Creating Choice!
One way to engage students to is create choice. Here is an example of a social studies project but these can be adapted to all different kinds of content.
ASSIGNMENT: Choose from the following assignments on the American Revolution. Make sure your points add up to 100.
Create a Prezi Timeline (25 points)
Assignment: Create a timeline detailing facts that caused the American Revolution. Why were the Patriots willing to fight in order to gain their independence from Great Britain? What factors led to this war between the colonist and King George III?
Create a Protest Poster (25 points)
Assignment: Create an online poster to protest the Stamp Act. You must include reasons the American Colonists BELIEVED the Stamp Act was unjust (wrong).
Step 1: Brainstorm a design (title, slogan, images)
Step 2: Create an account in Flipsnack and create your article. Use a BLANK PAGE to start your project.
Write A Letter (25 points)
Assignment: Write a letter to King George III describing why YOU believe the Intolerable Act was injust, and should be repealed. The letter should be at least one page.

Create a Fakebook Page (50 points)
Assignment:
Step 1: Choose one of the following people: Elijah Clarke, Austin Dabney, or Nancy Hart

Assignment: Create six cards with a visual on the front and significant information. Choose six from the following: French and Indian War (Seven Years War), Proclamation of 1763, Stamp Act, Intolerable Acts, and the Declaration of Independence, Loyalists, patriots, Elijah Clarke, Austin Dabney, Nancy Hart, Button Gwinnett, Lyman Hall, George Walton, Battle of Kettle Creek, and siege of Savannah
Step 1: Choose 6 from above
Step 2: Go to cram.com and sign up
Step 3: Create your flashcards and share your set in the assignment dropbox
Write a Newspaper Article (50 points)
Assignment: Create an article that could have appeared in an ENGLISH (British) newpaper detailing the events that led to the Revolution. Include a headline and illustration. At least one page.

Create a video presentation of the main events (6) from the standard.
